Grand United Order of Salem

WHO ARE THE SALEMS?

The Grand United Order of Salem is a social and benevolent fraternal organization for men and women dedicated to fellowship, mutual support, and community uplift.

Guided by the principles of Virtue, Peace, and Union, our members work together to build strong relationships, encourage moral growth, relieve distress, and serve the communities in which our Lodges are established. The Order places special importance on supporting young people, honoring and assisting elders, preserving African American cultural heritage, and helping members and families during times of hardship.

Throughout its history, Salem Lodges have combined social fellowship with meaningful service. Members supported local churches, organized activities for youth, assisted the sick and distressed, and helped families with burial and funeral expenses.

 “Do Good to All”

“Do Good to All” is more than a motto—it is the standard by which Salem members are called to live.

It means showing kindness without prejudice, offering help where it is needed, treating others with dignity, and using our time, talents, and resources to strengthen our communities. Through friendship, service, and mutual care, we seek to leave every person and every community better than we found them.
