Service Rooted in Unity
The Grand United Order of Salem is committed to strengthening the Black community through service, education, cultural preservation, fellowship, and mutual support.

Guided by Virtue, Peace, and Union, our Lodges work to meet the needs of youth, families, elders, and neighbors through practical programs and dependable service.

Our Service Priorities
Youth and Education
We support mentoring, literacy, academic achievement, career preparation, skilled trades, entrepreneurship, leadership development, and cultural pride. Our goal is to help young people grow in confidence, character, discipline, and purpose.

Elders and Intergenerational Fellowship
We honor senior citizens as keepers of history, wisdom, and tradition. Salem encourages wellness checks, transportation assistance, companionship, technology support, and opportunities for elders and young people to learn from one another.

Strong Families and Healthy Communities
We promote family stability, responsible parenting, healthy communication, community fellowship, health awareness, conflict resolution, and safe neighborhoods.

Economic and Civic Advancement
The Order encourages financial literacy, homeownership education, support for Black-owned businesses, career development, professional networking, volunteerism, and ethical community leadership.

Cultural Preservation
We preserve African American history, traditions, achievements, photographs, documents, and oral histories. We believe cultural knowledge helps younger generations understand their heritage and prepare for the future.

Benevolence and Mutual Aid
Salem Lodges serve those facing hardship, illness, bereavement, unemployment, displacement, and other emergencies. This may include food and clothing drives, school supplies, holiday assistance, disaster relief, and direct benevolent support.

Working Together
The Order cooperates with churches, schools, senior centers, neighborhood organizations, businesses, and charitable institutions whose work reflects our values.
Through organized service, brotherhood, sisterhood, and mutual aid, we seek to build stronger individuals, stronger families, and stronger communities from one generation to the next.
